Group Counseling

Group counseling is a form of counseling where a small group of people meet regularly to discuss, interact, and explore problems with each other and the group leader. Group counseling seeks to give individuals a safe and comfortable place where they can connect with others as well as work out problems and emotional concerns. Our groups do not happen year around, so please contact us to see if we have an available group for you or your child.

Supervised Visits

Supervised visits provide an alternative to unsupervised visits and exchanges by providing an emotionally and physically safe environment where children may visit with their non-residential parent. Both parties must agree to abide by the policies set forth by the agency. We make every effort to accommodate both parties but availability is subject to the supervisor’s schedule.

Payments

Making a Difference, Inc. relies on fee-for-service payments to provide professional counseling services. Several options for payment of services are available: Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and adjusted fee assistance.

  • Medicaid-insured children under 21 are completely covered by Medicaid payments.

  • Medicaid-insured adults are charged a $3.00 copayment for each service.

  • Insurance allowable fees and client responsibility for payments vary by insurance plan and will be discussed during the admission process.

  • Availability to bill Medicare is limited by available providers and usually covers 80% of the cost of services.

  • The agency accepts several insurance plans, but not all. Before starting services it is important to make sure we accept your insurance plan. We can assist you in finding an approved provider if we do not accept your insurance or if other options would be more appropriate for your situation.

We attempt to reduce barriers that may limit access to services.

  • Barriers may include financial, physical, transportation, location of service, culture, religion, language, intellectual abilities, stigma, and discrimination.

  • Please inform any agency staff if you have special considerations that may hinder your access to services. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate any special needs you may have. You can ask about our Sliding Fee Discount Program if you are in need of financial assistance in order to receive services.
